Preschool

Pre-K begins each day with free play in the classroom which serves as an integral part of the social and physical development of each child. Our youngest students are encouraged to use their imaginations to learn and explore the world around them. Circle time and learning centers take place each day where students are exposed to literacy and mathematical concepts through the use of manipulatives and small group instruction. Students are introduced to basic handwriting skills through the “Handwriting Without Tears” program, where they become aware of letter formation through the use of hands-on materials. “The Gospel Project” Bible curriculum is used to point students to Jesus through every Old and New Testament story.

Additionally, Pre-K students visit the library and attend music class weekly to enrich their experience here at Westminster. They also have daily recess on the playground where they build friendships and develop healthy bodies through physical play.

Field Trips

Pre-K students take several curricular-based field trips throughout the school year, which may include visits to Washington Farms and The Story Shop.

Optional: Extended Day Pre-K

Our Extended Day Pre-K is an opportunity for our youngest students to extend their learning through play until our all Lower School dismissal—which begins at 2:20 pm. Students will eat lunch together and engage in outdoor and indoor play.
