WCA 5th Graders Excel at County 4-H Competition

WCA 5th grade girls represented our school with great success at Tuesday’s 4-H County Project Achievement (CPA) competition.  Eleven Westminster competitors will move on the the district level in February!  Participants had to select a topic that they were interested in and develop a presentation.  They had to present their project first in the classroom and then against fellow Oconee county students in competition.  To go on to the district level, a student must place in the top three in their category.  Our students developed projects on topics ranging from Shakespeare to cooking.  Well done girls!

Quiz Bowl 2018

While we’ve all enjoyed our snow days and have been trying to get back into the routine, our middle and high school quiz bowl teams have been working hard.  They competed at the regional level last week and advanced to the state level competition this week.  Whew, that’s a lot of quizzing going on!

We had three teams from middle school competing at the regional level.  WCA MS Team 1 (defending state champions) won the region title and Team 3 tied for runner-up in their inaugural year.  This was also our first year of high school competition and we finished as runners up in the region.  This week at state competition, both our middle school Team 1 and our high school team made it to the semi-final round.  Congratulations to all students and faculty advisors!

Here are some scenes from both the regional and state competitions.

BoxTopsShop, clip and turn them in by Friday, February 23rd – this semester’s deadline.   So, before you throw that container in the recycling bin, check it for the pink “BoxTops” rectangle and clip it!  Every BoxTop clipped is worth 10 cents for our school.

The lower school classroom that collects the most BoxTops earns a Casual Friday.  So, help our school earn money and your child earn a blue jean day!  Please turn your BoxTops in to your lower school classroom teacher or in the school office.
