The WCA Mock Trial Team’s Winning Tradition Continues at Regional Competition

Westminster’s mock trial team won their fifth consecutive region championship on Saturday at UGA’s law school.   They competed against local area teams Clarke Central High School, Athens Academy, Athens Christian, Oconee County High School, North Oconee High School and others. The Legal Lions won every round they competed in, and also brought home several individual awards.   Jeremiah Smith won two outstanding witness awards for his portrayal of the defendant, Addison Dewitt; Emily Anne Lanclos won two outstanding attorney awards, and Sawyer Bradford won three outstanding attorney awards.   Congratulations to our mock trial team.   They will compete for the district title on February 17th.

Senior Night for Winter Sports Athletes

Senior athletes for winter sports were recognized Friday evening during home games at WCA.  The athletes were joined by their parents to be honored during half time.  Seniors recognized from L to R were Thomas Dickerson, Robert King, Luke Lowry, Hadley Kirsche, Lauren McCullough and Rachel Snyder.  Our thanks to each of these athletes and families for your dedication and hard work!

Swim Team Finishes Strong at State Meet

Congratulations to the Lions Swim Teams as they competed in today’s GICAA State Championship Meet. A great showing by our swimmers including:

Varsity State Champions:
Jackson Bates – 100 Breast
Anna Ashe-200 Free and 100 Back

Varsity Bronze Medal:
Varsity girls medley and Varsity girls freestyle

JV State Runner Up:
Eli Bates -50 Back
Hannah Tores-100 free
Henry Koslowsky 50 breast

JV Bronze Medal:
Boys freestyle relay

Lower School Uniform Re-Sale

There will be a Lower School Uniform Resale starting tomorrow – Thursday, February 1st and Friday, February 2nd.  The sale will be from 7:45 am through 3 pm.  The sale will be set up in the stage area of the gym and all items will be marked “Free”, $5, $10 or $15.  All sales will be cash only

Spring Sports 2018

The calendar says “Winter” but it’s time to begin spring sports training.

Following are the practice times for the soccer and baseball. Coaches will have more details for the athletes on weight room and study hall arrangements.




On the field practice times:

  • Middle School Girls – 4:15-5:30 (M/T/Th/F) – Coach Woelfl
  • Middle School Boys – 3:30-5:00 (M/T/Th/F) – Coach Chittom
  • Varsity Girls – 3:30-5:30 (M/T/Th/F) – end at 5:00 on Wed – Coach McClendon
  • Varsity Boys- 3:15-5:15 (M/T/Th/F) – end at 5:00 on Wed – Coach Hansen


  • Workouts are held at Frozen Ropes – 3:15-5:00 (M/W/F) – ends this Friday  – Coach Miller 
  • Beginning Feb 5th, practices will be on the WCA field from 3:15-5:00 (M-F) – Coach Miller

Don’t Forget your Box Tops!

Shop, clip and turn them in by Friday, February 23rd – this semester’s deadline.  Every BoxTop clipped is worth 10 cents for our school.

The lower school classroom that collects the most BoxTops earns a Casual Friday.  So, help our school earn money and your child earn a blue jean day!  Please turn your BoxTops in to your lower school classroom teacher or in the school office.

Prayer Requests

As we go through our days, please remember the keep the following WCA families in your prayers. Also, please email Tami Butts ( with updated and/or new prayer requests. It is an honor to pray for each other.

  • Please continue to pray for Sabrina Garcia (Noah, 11th and Jacob, 9th) and her family.  Pray for her continued strengthening and her medical team as they make decisions for her future treatments.
  • Anderson Krieger (9th grade) and his family, as he continues his treatment for recurrent leukemia and moves into the maintenance phase of his treatment.  For the most recent updates and specific prayer needs, please follow Sally on social media.
  • Brent Weatherly and his family. You can follow his journey and receive specific prayer requests.
