WCA Students honored by the DAR

The John Andrew Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution recognized two Westminster students on Sunday, April 9th.  David Lanclos was chosen as the Westminster senior who exhibited good citizenship, patriotism and love for American History.  Annslee Mitchell was recognized as both the Oconee County and the District winner of the 5th grade essay contest.  Annslee wrote her essay on the following topic and presented it to the John Andrew Chapter on Sunday.

  •  The National Park Service was established by Congress in 1916.  The National Park Service manages approximately 84.4 million acres of national parks.  Pretend you are writing a journal while visiting one of the 58 national parks.  Identify its location and discuss why and when it was established as a national park.  What makes this park one of our national treasures?

Field Day 2017 – Friday, April 21st

Early Dismissal for ALL students at Noon

Field Day 2017 is almost here!  This day of fun in the sun is planned for Friday, April 21st.  The morning is filled with games and activities beginning at 8 am and then all students are released to go home at noon.

For this year, the teams will be lead by members of WCA’s Class of 2017.  That’s right, seniors will be coaching the teams!  The student body will be divided into multi-age teams comprised of both lower and upper school students.  Events include classics such as an obstacle course and the three-legged race plus new for this year, a dunk tank featuring some of your favorite WCA faculty and staff!   The winning team will receive a full week of casual dress.

All students will be given a color coordinated team t-shirt.  Teams will be posted on Monday, April 17th and t-shirts will be distributed on Thursday, April 20th.

There are still spots available for volunteers so if you’d like to help, please contact Elizabeth Clement at or 210.464.0208.

Prayer Requests

As the body of Christ, we have the privilege of praying for each other. If you have a prayer request that you would like to have included here, please contact Tami Butts,

There are members of our community in need of our faithful prayer support.  Some of these families have set up blogs that you can follow to keep up to date, others we will do our best to update you here.   In each of these families there is much to pray for and much for which to be thankful.

  • Anderson Krieger is blessedly now based from home for his next stages of treatment.  He will have to be in the hospital for some of his treatment protocol but the family is delighted that they are able to have days at home together.  Please pray for his body to receive the treatments and associated medicines without complications and for strength, peace and provision for Sally (1st grade teacher), Jon and Ian (10th).  Now that the family is home, WCA has the opportunity to minister to them by providing meals.  If you would like to participate and provide a meal in the coming weeks, please follow the link below to chose a date.  If you have any questions, please contact Julie Tomlin,

  • Please be in prayer for WCA Art Teacher, Jackie Kirsche, as she will be beginning a series of treatments again for metastatic cancer.  Her diagnosis and situation are best communicated in her own words from her point of diagnosis last week:  Hi friends. We have been watching my tumor markers rise over the past few months; I had a CT scan this past Friday. My scan results were as we expected–slow metastatic growth in lymph nodes in my pelvis, abdomen and chest. I will begin the same regimen I did last time, starting next Tuesday and continuing for 12 weeks. I handled this very well last time and am hopeful for that again. Big prayers will be for my body to both handle it and the cancer to respond well to the treatment. I’d love to reach NED (no evidence of disease) again!! Thanks for walking with us through this (again). We love you and are grateful for you!  Thank you for keeping Jackie and her family, husband Kevin, children Berkley, Sierra and Hadley (11th) before the Father.
  • For updates and specific prayer requests for the Needham family (Linley 6th), please read Susanna Needham’s blog to follow their families journey as 3 yr. old, Beck, is undergoing treatment for leukemia. For questions, or to address immediate needs, please contact Julie Tomlin (
  • Please be in prayer for Brent Weatherly and his family. He has started a blog where you can follow his journey and receive specific prayer requests.

Thank you for lifting up these members of our WCA family.

Prayer requests are included here at the request, or with the permission, of the family.
