Student Success Program
The premise behind the Westminster Student Success Program is simple: Every child learns differently.
We believe students with recognized learning differences should be afforded the opportunity of a Christian education within a Christian school environment. At Westminster, students must demonstrate the ability to master our college preparatory curriculum with rigorous academic standards and student expectations. The Student Success Program was developed to support the learning needs of students who may need additional academic assistance in order to be successful as they move through our curriculum.
A psycho-educational evaluation, performed by a licensed psychologist, is required to create a learning support plan. The report must state a specific learning difference or diagnosis and include recommendations for classroom accommodations. In addition to classroom accommodations, we offer general academic tutoring as well as Orton Gillingham tutoring for students with Learning Disabilities in reading. We currently have a speech and language pathologist who can do on-site evaluations and provide speech and language therapy.
As a covenant school, the success of the Student Success Program depends on close communication between parents and school staff. Our Director of Student Success monitors the use and implementation of classroom accommodations, outside tutoring, and communication with families.
