Caps for CURE
Let's Finish Strong!
This week is our annual Caps for CURE fundraiser, and it's been fun to see the variety of hats being worn on campus!
Caps for CURE is a school-wide event benefiting CURE Childhood Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through targeted research while supporting patients and their families.
Students may make a one-time $5 donation for the privilege of wearing a cap or hat to school each day this week! Additionally, all donations of any size are appreciated whether you choose to don a cap or not! Lower School students may pay their teachers and Upper School students will pay their first block teachers
Last year WCA raised an amazing $1,323 and we'd love to surpass this amount with this year's giving. Thank you in advance for your support of this noble cause!
School Pass Program Update
The new lower school carline system is off to a great start - so kudos to you! Just a reminder that if you haven't already, all lower school parents need to affix car tags to expedite our pick-up process. Any carpool changes should be updated via the app by adding approved drivers to your child's account. Please know that carpool/approved drivers do not need a separate car tag.
Grandparents' Day 2024
New School Year, New Grandparents Day Format!
It is always an exciting day when we welcome our Westminster grandparents to our campus! This year, we will be following a new format for Grandparents' Day. In lieu of our normal school day, we are excited to welcome all grandparents to campus to enjoy breakfast, a special program and a classroom tour with their grandchildren.
To ensure that there is adequate parking for our visitors, this year there will be two sessions to choose from - 8:15 am or 10 am. Please know that the 10 am session is closed, so if you have not yet registered, follow this link to select the 8 am session for your family. You may also see the Grandparents' Day 2024 Flyer for additional information.
After your visit:
Students are welcome to leave campus with their grandparents after their visit. We will have early dismissal at 11:30 for any remaining students. Enjoy going to lunch, spending time together, and thank you for sharing your time with us! We look forward to celebrating this day with you and yours.
After School Not Available:
Due to Grandparents' Day not being a normal school day, please know that our After School program will not be available on this day, Friday, September 20th.
For All Upper School Students, Grandparents Day is a Day Off:
Grandparents' Day, Friday, September 20th, will be an official day off for all WCA upper school students in grades 6 - 12. This simplifies activities on campus for Grandparents' Day and allows us to have additional parking available for our guests. So, enjoy the early start to your weekend!
Makeup School Picture Day
If you were absent on our first picture day or just not pleased with the outcome, you've got a second chance! Makeup school picture day is Monday, September 16th in the gym at 8:05 am. Please be sure if your child did not have their photo taken or is wanting a retake, that they come photo-ready in uniform.
WCA Swim Team
The winter swim season is just around the corner and the coaches are excited about this season! If you are interested in joining the Westminster Swim Team, please email Robyn Beall at rbeall@wcalions.org. Pre-season practices start October 21st for all swimmers! More information coming soon. Competitive swimming is an excellent way to stay in shape and learn a lifelong sport! Even if you do not have any experience of swimming competitively, come on out and, with the right attitude, we can teach you!
Donate Today!
Support WCA's Teacher Appreciation Committee
Thank you to all who have committed to donating to help show our amazing faculty and staff that they are appreciated! The WCA Teacher Appreciation Committee is a parent-led, parent-funded committee that works with the school to organize teacher events throughout the school year with the goal of encouraging and blessing our faculty and staff. In order to achieve this, we depend upon donations from our families. A $15 - $25 donation per family is suggested, but any amount is greatly appreciated! Please follow this link to complete the donation form for your family. Your FACTS account will be charged for this donation in mid-September. Thank you in advance for supporting this cause!
Upper School Impact Retreat
We are getting excited for Sharptop Impact Retreat coming up from September 24th - 27th! Upper school parents should have received an email today from Tollie Ediger with important details regarding food allergies and medical needs, including how we will be handling prescription medication while on the retreat. Please see the informational packet for specifics about the trip, including a packing list. If you have any questions, please reach out to Tollie.
