WCA Weekly News & Announcements for October 2

October 02, 2019
By Admin

This Saturday, October 5th, from 2 until 5 pm, the WCA community will come together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our school!  Make your plans now to join us for this time of fun and fellowship as we honor all that God has done for, and through, Westminster over the years.

There will be inflatables for the kids, college football on the big screen and games on the lawn.  Additionally, WCA seniors are hosting a cake walk and selling sno cones to raise money for their Spring mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets for seating and please know that there will be overflow parking on the back practice field.

The temperature is supposed to drop on Saturday so it looks like a wonderful day to enjoy this time of fellowship and celebration with members of our community past and present.

Look forward to seeing you there!

School Pictures & IDs

School picture proofs will be distributed this week along with student photo IDs.  If you would like to have your student's picture re-taken or if you missed picture day, the make-up/re-take day is October 22nd.

Fall Sports Pictures

The Fall Sports Picture day has been rescheduled for next week on Wednesday, October 9th.  Pictures will be taken after school and communication about uniforms will come from coaches.  Please know that the MS XC team will have their pictures taken first, beginning at 2 pm, so that they can depart on time for their meet that day.  If you have any questions, please contact Tollie Ediger, tediger@wcalions.org.

It's Time for a Break!

The calendar now says "October" which means it's time for Fall Break even though it has yet to feel like fall!

Please know that WCA will be closed Friday, October 11th and Monday and Tuesday, October 14th and 15th for Fall Break.  Regular classes will resume on the 16th.

As we go through our days, please remember to keep the following WCA families in your prayers. Also, please email Tami Butts (tbutts@wcalions.org) with updated and/or new prayer requests.  It is an honor to pray for each other.

  • Please be in continued prayer for Kim Hardwick, WCA teacher, who has undergone treatment for recurrent melanoma.  Following successful treatment, Kim is having scans every three months to verify the absence of disease.  There is much to be thankful for as her most recent scans showed no evidence of disease! Thank you for remembering her husband, Steve and their children (Ben - Class of 2018, Anna - 11th, Cary - 8th and Ella - 6th) during this time. Kim has set up a caring bridge site where she can share information about her journey. Caring Bridge for Kim Hardwick
  • Please continue to pray for our art teacher, Jackie Kirsche, as she walks through her cancer journey.  Jackie's most recent scans showed a recurrence of her disease.  She has begun immunotherapy treatments and will be receiving transfusions every 3 weeks for the next couple of months.  The doctors will be closely monitoring her to gauge the success of these new treatments and make adjustments if needed. Thank you for remembering Jackie, her husband Kevin and children Berkley (class of 2013), Sierra (class of 2016) and Hadley (class of 2018).
  • Please be in continued prayer for Brent Weatherly and his family as he battles cancer.  You can follow his journey and receive specific prayer requests by subscribing to his blog -  http://dbw26.wordpress.com.

Prayer requests are included here at the request, or with the permission of the family.
