Important Announcement Regarding AFTERNOON Dismissal…

  • PLEASE do not park in the traffic circle until after 2:45pm. The last couple days we have had cars backed up onto New High Shoals Road during upper school pick up. This is extremely dangerous because we do not have a police officer at this time.
  • We are asking that parents stay of the porch during lower school dismissal. The teacher on the porch cannot hear the names that are being called to her because of the noise level from talking. As this weather starts to get warmer and nicer, parents and students are hanging around after school. This is wonderful, but we ask that you get your child(ren) and gather away from the porch.

Thank you for your cooperation!

FIELD DAY IS FRIDAY!!!!! 8:00 am to 2:20 pm.

IMPORTANT…If you have a child(ren) with allergies, please provide a snack for the “Fun Stop” during field day that they will be able to eat at this part of their rotation. Please put the snack in a brown paper bag with their name on the outside of it.

  • Please report to the soccer fields by 7:30 a.m. on Friday if you have signed up to help set up.
  • Please report to the gym cafeteria by 8:00 a.m. on Friday if you are volunteering.
  • Don’t know what team your child is on, click here.

Interest Meeting for First Friday
Westminster is thrilled to be a part of Watkinsville’s highly attended First Friday event which takes place the first Friday night of each month. For those who may not be familiar with First Friday, the entire downtown Watkinsville is alive with booths, tents, music and just good ol’ fashion fun for the entire family. There are tractor rides, games and more. Westminster has been offered the opportunity to be part of this community event and have our very own tent and space. To make this possible and to make sure the school is well-represented, we need to have a committee and some volunteers. There will be an interest meeting held Wednesday, April 29 immediately after drop off for those wanting to be part of this great adventure. If you are interested but unable to attend the meeting, please contact Stephanie Atkinson at admissions@wcalions.org.

Westminster Walk Throughs
With so much interest pouring in, we are excited to host two more opportunities for new families to “Walk Through Westminster” with our delightful Director of Admissions Stephanie Atkinson, and gather information about WCA, tour the campus and learn more about the admissions process. Let your friends know to reserve their spot for either Thursday, April 30 or Friday, May 8, from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. by emailing admissions@wcalions.org.

PRAISES & PRAYERS

Jackie Kirsche
Jackie Kirsche, Westminster mom and our beloved art teacher, received news that her cancer has returned and she will again face this battle. Her chemo will begins the week following Spring Break. Russell Family
Please continue to pray for WCA parent Scott Russell who is battling cancer. Below is the latest update from Kris, taken from her facebook page March 23:
“Update – For a while now, Scott and I have had the feeling that the new targeted drug wasn’t working. The oncologist confirmed today that the new drug treatment was a failure and that the tumor has grown significantly in the last month. He switched Scott back to Tarceva (which is the drug he was previously taking.) He’s also having 3 weeks of radiation, in hopes of shrinking the new growth and helping with the pain. He’s also getting another brain MRI, because it’s a likely place for the cancer to have spread (since the drug hasn’t been working all this time.) Hoping and praying for no new metastases.”
