Tomorrow Night – Throwback Thursday #tbt a.k.a. Family Night at WCA

You want to be there!

Thursday, January 28th will be a night of family fun at Westminster. Three basketball games, door prizes, intramural team introductions, cheer leading half-time performance, Brett’s catered concessions and more! Also, the lower school class with the highest percentage of attendance wins a pizza party. The fun will begin with the first ball game at 4:30. Please see this flyer for more information.

“Three Buck Cluck” is back this Friday the 29th – (with more biscuits available!)

$3 = Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit = Proceeds for Haiti

This Friday, January 29th, you can purchase your favorite Chick-fil-A chicken biscuit on your way through the traffic circle.  Last week the demand was so high, the WCA Seniors ordered three times as many biscuits for this Friday!  Biscuits are $3 each with all proceeds going towards the Sr. mission trip to Haiti.  Biscuits will also be available for purchase in the upper school gymnasium.  So, grab a yummy breakfast for a good cause!

Enrollment will be open to new families on February 1st, 2016 and seats in each class will be filled as space allows. Lower School Honor Roll Recipients

WCA students in the 3rd through 5th grade who have achieved Honor Roll will be recognized during chapel tomorrow, Thursday, January 28th.

Drop Off Procedure

When you are dropping off your student(s) in the morning, please drive around the traffic circle as far as you can.  Parents stopping in front of the lower school building to unload causes traffic to back up into New High Shoals Road.  The safety patrol is there to help you unload your children, their things and help them into the building when needed.  Your help with this is greatly appreciated!

WCA Student Earns National Swimming Record!

IMG_8470Ryan Wylie (7th grade), swimmer for WCA and Athens Bulldog Swim, achieved the fastest time in the nation for a 12 year old in the 1650 Yard Freestyle Event last weekend at the Clemson Invitational!  His time of 17:08.96 in the mile event broke the Georgia State Record.  Wylie’s time also placed him at 42nd on the USA Swimming All Time Top 100 List.   Congratulations to Ryan on these outstanding achievements!

Lower School Chapel Speakers Needed

Would you or someone from your church be interested in speaking to our lower elementary students during chapel?  Chapel presentations for lower school only need to be 5 – 10 minutes long, but the time spent with them is such a blessing to the students.   We have open dates in February and March.  If you are interested or know someone who is, please email Fran O’Rear at office@wcalions.org.  Thank  you!

Please continue to keep Anelisa Durling (Daniel, 4th grade) and her family in your prayers as she continues healing from a cardiac event in December.
