Legal Lions Finish Season as State Runners-Up

mock trial runners up

WCA’s Mock Trial Team State Runners-Up 2017. Front Row L-R: Emily LaCount, Hadley Kirsche, Sawyer Bradford, Hannie Lanclos, EA Lanclos. Middle Row L-R: Coaches Kelly Cole, Emma Stephens, Amy Lanclos. Back Row L-R: Ryan Cullom, Rachel Snyder, David Lanclos, Connor Loveless Abigail Snyder, Jackson Mulkey, Emory Doster, Peyton Turner and Lily McElhannon.

The Westminster Mock Trial team 2017 ended their season with an incredible day of competition this past Saturday.  They began the day as one of the top 8 teams in the state and finished as the number 2 team clinching the runner-up position in the state final round.   Congratulations to all team members and coaches on an amazing and exciting season!  Events are best described in the words of coach, Emma Stephens:

This past Saturday, these talented and beautiful young men and women (also in the picture are their proud coaches) competed in the state mock trial competition in Gwinnett. In their morning rounds, Westminster took all eight awards — four outstanding attorney and four outstanding witness awards. They were also awarded the professionalism award — given to the team that exhibits integrity, good sportsmanship, and professionalism (voted on by all of the teams competing at state). After winning both their morning rounds, they made it through to the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP! Out of ALL the schools in the state of Georgia — private and public, large and small– our tiny little school made it to the final two. We faced off against Grady High School in the championship round and ultimately lost to Grady — though we did split awards with them, taking one of the two outstanding witness awards and one of the two outstanding attorney awards. I am so proud of Westminster’s Legal Lions! They represented the Athens and Oconee region and the Cumming district so well, and they are such gracious and kind competitors!

Celebrating Dr. Seuss Day

Seuss Kindergarten

Mrs. Brouwer’s Half-Day Kindergarten Class Celebrates Seuss Day

WCA Kindergarteners celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss last week by dressing up as their favorite Seuss characters, playing with Oobleck and reading a lot of Dr. Seuss books of course!

We truly love him in a house.
We truly love him with a mouse.
We truly love him here or there.
We truly love him anywhere.
We truly love the silly goose.
We truly love old Dr. Seuss!

Prayer Requests

As the body of Christ, we have the privilege of praying for each other. If you have a prayer request that you would like to have included here, please contact Tami Butts,

Please continue to pray for the Krieger family as their son, Anderson (8th), is undergoing treatment for a relapse of his leukemia. He is halfway through his first intense round of treatments which require him to stay in Scottish Rite for a month.  Specific prayer requests are for protection from infection for Anderson and for continued clean results from weekly spinal taps.  Also prayers for peace, strength and provision for Sally (1st grade teacher), Jon and Ian (10th). If you would like to help the family in any way, please contact Julie Tomlin,

There are members of our community in need of our faithful prayer support. These families have set up blogs that you can follow to keep up to date. As you read the blogs, there is much to pray for and much for which to be thankful.

  • For updates and specific prayer requests for the Needham family (Linley 6th), please read Susanna Needham’s blog to follow their families journey as 3 yr. old, Beck, is undergoing treatment for leukemia. For questions, or to address immediate needs, please contact Julie Tomlin (
  • Please be in prayer for Brent Weatherly and his family. He has started a blog where you can follow his journey and receive specific prayer requests.
  • Thank you for your continued prayers for Hannie Lanclos and her family as she continues her path of healing.

Thank you for lifting up these members of our WCA family.

Prayer requests are included here at the request, or with the permission, of the family.
