“Legal Eagles” Westminster Style!
WCA Mock Trial Team Wins Region
Westminster’s 2017 mock trial team competed in the region tournament on Saturday against local schools, including Clarke Central High School, North Oconee High School, Oconee High School, Athens Christian School, Greenbriar High School, Jefferson High School, and Eastside High School. The Legal Lions had a great day, sweeping the morning rounds—winning every ballot and taking all eight individual best witness and best attorney awards! The Lions advanced to the region championship round against Athens Christian School where they won both courtrooms to become REGION CHAMPIONS for the FOURTH straight year. David Lanclos (12th) won an outstanding attorney award; Abigail Snyder (12th) won TWO outstanding attorney awards, and junior, Rachel Snyder also received an outstanding attorney award. Hadley Kirsche (11th) won THREE outstanding witness awards for her portrayal of Coach Jamie Dugan. Hannie Lanclos (9th) won TWO outstanding witness awards for her portrayal of Geraldine Brand, and sophomore Emory Grace Doster won an outstanding witness award for her portrayal of the plaintiff, Harper Bryson. The Legal Lions move on to the district competition in Forsyth County on February 18th where they will compete to be counted among the elite eight in the state of Georgia.
Congratulations to the Legal Lions!
Swim Team 2017 – Congratulations on a great season!
With last weekend’s state meet, the WCA swim team closed out their 2017 season with an impressive overall fourth place finish! WCA’s women’s team (JV+V) placed third in state while our men’s team (JV+V) placed fourth. Many of our swimmers had personal best performances at the state meet and all showed great improvement throughout the season according to coach Haley Allen. These results were achieved despite the fact that the team had to deal with several cases of the flu. Truly impressive Lions! This was the last meet for WCA Senior John Koslowsky, who not only swam for the varsity team, with two third-place finishes, but also assisted in coaching the JV team.

With this win, our varsity boys advance to the semi-final game Thursday night against Peachtree Christian at 6 pm. For full tournament information, please follow this link – Varsity Boys Bracket.
