The Class of 2017 & Back to School
It’s official, they are seniors! The Class of 2017 showed their enthusiasm for being seniors and for getting back to school last week. They all wore special t-shirts designating their special “senior” status on campus and handed out popsicles at dismissal to ensure their their status as campus favorites continues!
Parent Orientation for Upper School
Thursday evening, August 18th, we will be holding parent orientation for upper school parents beginning as 6:30 in the gymnasium. You will have the opportunity to visit with each of your child’s teachers during this time regarding curriculum and academic expectations. It is very important for at least one parent to attend the session pertaining to each child. We look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you to all the lower school families and faculty who made Tuesday’s lower school parent orientation a success!
WCA School Store
Hours & Volunteers Needed
The school store will be opened in the upper school gym on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30 – 8:15 am for purchases and exchanges. If you are waiting for items to be re-stocked – stay tuned! We are expecting those items by the end of the week and we will let you know when they arrive. Store purchases may be paid for by cash, check or credit card only. (No charging through FACTS)
We are still in need of a few parent volunteers who would be willing to open our school store. It’s a 45 minute time commitment from 7:30 – 8:15 am. If you are interested and available to help with this, please contact Tami Butts, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cake Walk for Haiti – Success & Thank You
The senior class would like to thank all the parents who donated cakes for the cake walk on Friday night as well as those who generously participated. A special thanks to local businesses as well who donated cakes – Cecilia Villaveces Cakes, Kiki’s Bake Shop and Classic City Confections. As you have the opportunity, please let these businesses know how much you appreciate their donations. In total, the Cake Walk earned $401 to go towards the senior’s mission trip to Haiti in the spring.
Do you have a WCA student athlete? If so, we need to have a current athletic physical on file so that they are ready to go when their season begins! Please have your medical provider complete the WCA-Physical-Form-2016_2017 and turn in to the school office. Any student athlete who does not have a current physical on file will be ineligible to practice or play. Thank you!
“S” Marks the Parking Spot(s) – for Seniors
New for this year, the seniors have designated parking behind the Administrative building. These spots are designated with a yellow “S”. Parents, please leave these spots available for seniors. If you are used to parking in this area during morning drop off, please use the parking spaces toward the front of the WCA property instead. Thank you for your help!

School Rewards Programs
Earn donations for WCA while you shop!
Box Tops for Education
Clipping box tops is an easy way to help earn cash for our school. Each one is worth 10 cents given directly to WCA! Just look for the pink box tops on hundreds of products you use every day. All you have to do is clip them and send them to school. You may turn them in to the school office or in the lower school teacher work room. Last school year we earned $445.50 with a goal this year of $600. Please follow this link, Box Tops for Education Product List, for a complete list of products. If you have any questions, please contact Nikki Menjivar, WCA Box Tops for Education Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Through the Publix Partners program, all purchases made at Publix can help earn money for Westminster. To direct your donations to WCA, you just need to scan your Publix Partners identification when you check out. Identification cards may be picked up in the school office and used immediately to begin earning money for our school!

As the body of Christ, we have the privilege of praying for each other. Our community has families that are in need of our daily prayer support. As you follow the blogs of Hodge Rivers, Brent Weatherly and Hannie Lanclos, there is much to pray for and much to be grateful for. Thank you for all to do to support these members of our WCA family.
- Westminster student Hodge Rivers (K) was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma this spring. Please pray for Hodge and his parents, Todd and Jennifer, for peace, wisdom and protection. You can follow Hodge’s journey at his caring bridge site, caringbridge.org/hodgerivers.
- Please be in prayer for Brent Weatherly and his family. He has started a blog where you can follow his journey and receive specific prayer requests. http://dbw26.wordpress.com.
- Thank you for your continued prayers for Hannie Lanclos and her family. Hannie is back in school this fall and it is so wonderful to see her on campus. What a testimony to God’s goodness!
