“Fill the Bucket” Campaign for Relay for Life

relay-logoSpare change in your purse? your car? on your dresser?  This Thursday is the perfect day to collect that change and donate it to a great cause!  Cancer has touched the lives are so many people in our school and community and WCA is participating in the Fill the Bucket campaign to help battle this terrible disease.  Please encourage your child to get involved by bringing change in Thursday morning, April 21st.  Buckets will be placed at the entrances to the lower and upper schools.  Additionally, you can participate by attending the Relay for Life at the Oconee County High School on Friday, the 22nd, from 6-12pm.  If you would like to dedicate a luminaria bag to be placed around the track in honor of or memory of a family member or friend, go to  Thank you in advance for your support.  Every coin counts!

May Lunch Orders Open

The web site is now open for placing May lunch orders.  Please note that there are many notifications during this busy last month of school, so be sure to notice if these apply to your student(s).  If you do not have an account, go to, use the school code WCA319 and follow the prompts to set up your account.  The deadline for placing orders will be Wednesday, April 27th.

Field Day 2016 – Friday, April 22nd

Early Dismissal Day for All Students at 1:15 pm

field day clip artWCA’s annual Field Day will be on Friday, April 22nd. Activities will begin at 8 am and all students will be dismissed early at 1:15 pm. The student body will be divided into eight, multi-age teams comprised of both lower school and upper school students. Teams will compete in events like Cheeto toss, an obstacle course and three legged race just to name a few.   The winning team will receive a full week of casual dress!  If you would like to help or have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Clement at We would love to have you be a part of this fun day with your children!

Spring Formal 2016  ~ “A Night to Remember”

Spring Formal is here!  This Saturday, April 23rd, WCA 9th – 12th graders will be dancing the night away at the Georgia Club Clubhouse from 7 to 11 pm.  Please remember that for any student bringing a non WCA guest, a Guest Form must be completed.  Forms may be picked up in the upper school office.

Rock Eagle 7th Grade Field Trip

On Monday, April 25th, the 7th grade will be going on a field trip to Rock Eagle.  Parents should have received emails from Mrs. Ware with details about the trip but here are the highlights you need to know:

  • Meet at the school at 7:30 am, depart by 7:50 am
  • Return to WCA by 6:00 pm
  • Bring a pair of old shoes that may get muddy and a clean pair to change into.
  • Cost of trip is $30.50 per person.  Please submit payment as soon as possible.  Lunch is included.
  • Areas of instruction include herpetology, water health and canoeing.

End of School Early Dismissal Days

It’s hard to believe, but the last week of school is going to be here soon!  In preparation, please mark your calendars for the following early dismissal days in May:

  • Due to final exams, all Upper School students will be dismissed at 11:15 am Tuesday the 24th, Wednesday the 25th and Thursday the 26th.
  • All students, both Upper and Lower School will be dismissed at 9:30 am on the last day of school, Friday the 27th.

Celebrate National School Library Month

April is National School Library Month and you have an opportunity to make it “Christmas in April” for our WCA Library. You can visit our school wish lists on Amazon by clicking on the links below to order books for the library and have them delivered directly to WCA. Spring Music Concert

WCA students will be presenting their Spring Music Concert, A Time of Singing, on Thursday, April 28th. The concert will be held at Briarwood Baptist Church, 1900 Robinhood Road, Watkinsville, beginning at 6:30 pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity to hear the vocal talents of our students. Every Week at WCA

  • WCA Parents Prayer Time meets every Tuesday from 8:00 – 8:15 am in the Art Room.
  • After School Spanish for grades 5th – 8th meets every Monday from 2:45 – 3:45 in the field house.
  • Math Olympiad is finished for the school year.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for WCA students Lilly Atkinson (3rd grade) and Noah Erwin (2nd grade) as they travel to Uganda for two weeks to help with the orphanage at Good Shepherd’s Fold.  They depart on Wednesday, April 27th. ​Here is the blogpost link from Lisa Fish that explains more and has a photo:
