Westminster’s After School Program is excited to welcome Keith Delaplane as its guest speaker, Oct. 26 at 3pm. Dr. Delaplane is an entomology professor and Program Director for the University of Georgia’s Honey Bee Program.

Dr. Delaplane will provide an overview of insects, including boxes of insects to see, and the study of Entomology.  He will also share how he got his start in entomology at the age of 13 when his father bought him a beginners beekeeping kit and how this was the beginning of his life path towards his research today focusing on honey bees and the role they play in agricultural and
environmental pollination.

Delaplane is no stranger to Westminster; his wife, Mary and daughter Eva have been associated with the school since 2001 when Eva entered PK3.  Since then Keith has served in numerous roles including field trip chaperone, guest lecturer, helping with the Father/Daughter dance, and chairing the newly-formed Fine Arts Committee.  In addition, he has seved on the Westminster Board of Directors since Jan. 2011.
