Here they are again, the smiling faces of our winning Legal Lions! While many of us were relaxing and enjoying our Winter Break, WCA’s 2017 Mock Trial team won the district level competition held on Saturday, March 18th. This places them in the top 8 teams of all public/private schools in the state! State level competition commences on Saturday, March 4th. Congratulations to Legal Lions students and advisors!

Ready for a four-day weekend? I think so! This weekend marks Winter Break 2017 for Westminster Christian. School will be closed on Friday, February 17th and Monday, February 20th. Classes resume on Tuesday the 21st. With the winter we’re having, get outside and enjoy our “Springtime” Winter Break!

Congratulations to our Varsity Lady Lions on their victory Friday night against Peachtree Christian (43 – 26) which earned them the title GICAA Region II-A Champions! Up next is their second round playoff game this Friday evening at WCA.

Westminster’s 2017 mock trial team competed in the region tournament on Saturday against local schools, including Clarke Central High School, North Oconee High School, Oconee High School, Athens Christian School, Greenbriar High School, Jefferson High School, and Eastside High School. The Legal Lions had a great day, sweeping the morning rounds—winning every ballot and taking all eight individual best witness and best attorney awards!

On Tuesday the first-ever Middle School Quiz Bowl Team competed against seven schools in Greensboro to win the title of State Champion! Team members are 8th graders Aron Bauer (co-captain) and Pierce Splichal, 7th graders Peyton Deep and Widener Norris (co-captain), and 6th grader Emma Cooke.

Congratulations to Westminster’s inaugural Middle School Quiz Bowl team for winning Region Runner Up at the regional competition! WCA took two teams to the quiz bowl on Tuesday, January 17th and Westminster Team 1 came in second place missing first place by one question. Westminster will go to the state competition on Tuesday, January 24th.

There will be lots of fun things happening Friday evening at WCA! Full “concession stand galore” from Brett’s, door prizes, cheerleading performance and a half-court shoot out. So, take a night off from cooking and join us for this time of fellowship and sportsmanship!

Ready or not, Christmas break is almost here! WCA will be closed from December 19th – January 3rd, 2017 with classes resuming on the 4th. It’ll be an exciting week when we return with upper school spirit week followed by our Homecoming celebration on the 7th. May this break be a blessed time of family, friends and thankfulness. Westminster senior, Abigail Snyder, was chosen as Rotary student of the semester. Each semester, the Rotary Club of Oconee County honors one senior student per high school in the county. Students are chosen by the faculty at their school based on academic achievement and personal character. Abigail selected Mr. Jerry Eidger, Bible Teacher, as her teacher of the semester. Congratulations!
