Westminster’s junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams faced off against Heritage Christian last night, Sept. 4, 2014.

The JV Lady Lions beat Heritage in two sets, final scores of 25-20 and a nail-biting 31-29!

The varsity Lady Lions fell to Heritage in a heartbreaking five-set match that garnered a team total of 23 kills, 59 digs, & 5 blocks.

“Best volleyball we’ve seen yet,” said Lions coach Alexa Schulman.  “Both the JV and varsity teams played their hearts out to the very end of each match.”

– Game 1: final score 25-10 (Her.), Senior Kara Smith had 4 digs.
– Game 2: final score 25-15 (Her.), Junior Liz Autry had 3 digs.
– Game 3: final score 25-14 (WCA), Sophomore Ellie Campbell scored 2 aces, Senior Katie Leach earned 2 blocks.
– Game 4: final score 25-23 (WCA), Senior Katie Leach and Junior classmates Liz Autry and Morgan Britt each scored 2 kills. Liz Autry, Morgan Britt, and Elie Campbell each earned 4 digs.
– Game 5: final score 15-8 (Her.) Katie Leach and Liz Autry had 4 digs each.

Both teams will travel to Gatewood Christian on Monday, Sept. 8, (4:30 JV and 5:30 Varsity).
The Varsity team will travel to Friendship Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 9 (5 p.m.).
