Why I Love Westminster

There is nothing more important in this life than knowing God and having His Son formed in us. We are thankful that our children can experience a challenging education at Westminster, but even more importantly that they are encouraged to grow "in the knowledge of God" and the likeness of Christ.

Annual Fund FAQs

Are gifts to Westminster’s Annual Fund tax-deductible?
Yes! Westminster Christian Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all gifts made to the school are tax-deductible.

Why does Westminster Christian Academy have an Annual Fund?
If you’ve asked around, you know that Westminster’s tuition is lower than many private schools. The school’s Annual Fund helps us round out our income needs and allows us to keep tuition costs down.

How is the Annual Fund used?
Money from the Annual Fund is used to round out our income needs, but it also allows us to offer scholarships and to make improvements around WCA in areas like our computer lab, library, science lab, and athletic fields.

What is our Annual Fund goal this year?
Our Annual Fund goal for the 2007-2008 school year is $120,000.

What percentage of school families made pledges last year?
98% of Westminster families participated in our 2006-2007 Annual Fund -- a record high!

Why is it important for every family to participate in the Annual Fund?
As we write grant applications and seek funding from foundations, it is important to be able to say to them, “Every family is contributing above and beyond tuition and is participating in our Annual Fund, but we still lack the funds we need to accomplish the goals which God has put on our hearts.” Foundations are much more inclined to give to a school that has done everything it can do and given all that it can give.

How do school families go about giving to the Annual Fund?
We make a short presentation at the August Orientation meeting and then give each family a pledge card and envelope. We ask every family to pray and talk together and to make a pledge by the end of September. We like to gather all the pledge cards by the end of September, but families have until the end of April to send in their gifts.

What is a typical pledge that a family makes?
Gifts in the $500 to $1,000 range are the most common, but there are some families who are able to give only $100 and some who can give $10,000. A verse we have printed on our pledge cards is from II Corinthians 9: “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” And that is our heart and our intent: We don’t want anyone to feel pressured to give. We want to invite families to prayerfully consider and talk together about what amount they can cheerfully give to our Annual Fund.

We don’t have any children at Westminster, but we would like to donate to your Annual Fund. How do I go about making a donation?
First, THANK YOU!! Second, make your check payable to Westminster Christian Academy and write “Annual Fund” on the memo line! You can drop your gift by the school’s main office or mail it to:
