Westminster Christian Academy participated in its first meet of the 2012 season last Saturday, Aug. 25 at Loganvillle Christian Academy. Westminster is competing this season with 29 athletes, a huge growth from last year’s team of five. Westminster entered a JV boys and girls team as well as a varsity men and women’s team.

The varsity women dominated the race, winning first place with three runners in the top ten. Abigail Snyder finished third. Morgan White finished fourth. Sarah Rawls finished ninth.

The varsity men were led by first-time runner Daniel Lanclos, who came in ninth.

Rachel Snyder led the JV girls with a sixth place finish. Caroline Goss finished ninth.

The JV boys had two top 20 finishers. Braden Delamater led the team and finished in 18th place. Robert King followed right behind and finished in 19th place.

This was the first time Westminster has ever entered a JV team or a men’s varsity team in a meet.

The next meet is Saturday, Sept. 8, and is especially special as this will be the school’s first home Cross Country meet.  The meet starts at 9 a.m. and all are encouraged to come out and support the Lions!

STUDENT-PARENT WORK DAY
We will be hosting our first cross country meet as a school on September 8th. Steve White has organized a crew of volunteers over the last 12 months to build trails around our campus in preparation for this cross country season. Now, with our first meet right around the corner, we need a small army of volunteers to do some final clean up and preparation of the course. We will meet as a team on Thursday, September 6th to walk the trail, clear any last minute debris, and spray paint the course to make it easy to navigate. There may also be other jobs Mr. White has in mind that will help our first race run smoothly and represent our school well.
Please consider joining our team on September 6th to help us ensure everything looks great and is safe for our runners. We will plan to work from 2:45-5:30 and hope to be done sooner than 5:30 because we had so much help. We also need volunteers to help direct runners, hand out packets, and work the finish line on Saturday, September 8th so that our team parents can cheer for their runners. Please email Amanda Tingle (atingle@wcalions.org) if you are interested in volunteering for the work day or the race day.
