Why I Love Westminster

I love Westminster because it is a family. Each person at the school cares about my children in every aspect of their lives-physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I know God placed my children at WCA and that is a great feeling!

Academic Program

Kindergarten
Westminster’s kindergarten classes meet from 7:55-12:00 noon Monday through Friday. This abbreviated day enables the teachers of these young students to capitalize on the children’s best learning hours, which are in the mornings. By concluding the day at noon, students are then able to rest at home after lunch, as many five-year-olds still need to do. The class’s five-year averages on the Stanford Achievement Test, a nationally norm referenced test, confirm that choices regarding scheduling and curriculum are effectively introducing students to essential core academic concepts: Reading 96th percentile, Math 89th percentile, Complete Battery 92nd percentile.

1st - 5th Grades
An advanced, rigorous curriculum offered in 1st through 5th grades ensures that students are sufficiently challenged throughout elementary school. In these grades, a high priority is placed on the mastery of basic math and language skills which are essential for effective exploration of related subjects in later years. Under the guidance of the school’s director of academics and Lower School administration, the faculty of these grades has selected a variety of curricula which most effectively assist them in giving students the basic building blocks on which all future learning experiences will be based.

Dress Code / Uniform

Westminster’s dress code, which includes school uniforms, is intended to be a practical, simple, and standardized expression of the principles of neatness and modesty. We believe that standardized guidelines result in fewer distractions for teachers and students and, therefore, provide an environment most conducive to the learning process. The personal appearance of each member of the student body also reflects upon the entire school, so we encourage students to take pride in and responsibility for their physical appearance.
